Frequently asked questions
General information
How long does a visit last?
The total duration of the exhibition is around an hour and a half, and as it is a guided tour, there is little opportunity to interrupt the programme to maintain the continuity of the experience. Of course, if anyone feels unwell, we will ensure that they can leave the exhibition safely, but we would ask all visitors to keep in mind the duration of the visit.
Are there age-restricted contents within the exhibition?
The exhibition includes historical war events and certain lighting effects that may not be recommended for younger children. The exhibition is open to children from the age of 8, but is recommended for children over the age of 10.
In which languages is the exhibition available?
The exhibition is available in Hungarian, English, German and Spanish. Our colleagues will help on site to set the language of the exhibition.
Is there access for disabled people?
The exhibition is accessible to wheelchair users, but some rooms may be more difficult to navigate due to the authentic set design (e.g. cobblestones, sand). In such cases, our colleagues will be happy to assist. One of the nine attractions is not accessable, as it includes stairs, however, this doesn't limit continuing the tour .
Are photos allowed during the exhibition?
Photos are allowed throughout the exhibition, but flash photography is prohibited. Please respect this to not to disturb others!
Is it allowed to eat or drink at the site?
Food and drink are not permitted throughout the exhibition. Only water is permitted.
Is using the cloakroom mandatory?
Yes, the use of the cloakroom is compulsory and no large bags or backpacks are allowed in the exhibition area. The use of the cloakroom is free of charge and lockers can be opened with a 100 HUF coin, which will be returned on departure. If you do not bring a coin, we will provide you with a token.
Ticket purchase, cancellation
Is it necessary to reserve tickets in advance or is purchase on-site possible?
We recommend to buy tickets beforehand, to ensure your place. On-site ticketing is available, but your preferred date may already be full.
What should I do if I miss my reserved date?
In case you miss your appointment, we cannot guarantee that there will be a place available in the next time slot. In this case, we will not be able to refund the ticket price and the ticket cannot be used later. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the start time and please note that the venue is located in the city centre where traffic is often unpredictable.
What should I do if I want to rebook my purchased ticket for another time?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the date. If you have purchased a ticket, your reservation is only valid for that date and cannot be changed. Therefore, if you are not sure of the date, we recommend that you choose the on-site ticket option. This does not guarantee secured entry if we are full.
What should I do if I want to transfer my ticket to someone else?
The ticket is transferable, but it is important that the person who arrives at the venue has the QR-coded ticket, obtained through Cooltix ticketing.
Can I cancel the booking permanently?
Appointments can be cancelled and we thank you in advance if you let us know using one of our contact details. Unfortunately, it is not possible to reschedule the appointment. However, tickets are transferable, so think of a friend or family member who would like to attend in your place.
What should I do if I do not receive my purchased ticket by e-mail?
First, please check your spam folder to make sure that your ticket has not ended up there, and that you have entered the correct e-mail address when booking. If this still does not solve the problem, please contact Cooltix customer service directly, as ticket sales are done through the Cooltix interface.
Is it possible to buy a gift ticket?
Of course, it is possible. In this case, please select "buy tickets" and choose the "gift ticket" option. The recipient will have 6 months from the date of purchase to use the ticket. Please make sure to mention this when you hand over the ticket so that it does not go to waste.
Groups
Are groups required to book and pay in advance?
Someone in the group got sick and not everyone can attend, what should we do?
In this case, please contact us at csoport@timemachinebudapest.hu.
We would like to participate in an interactive class, how can I book it?
When booking, please choose from our combined ticket types the one that includes the interactive class. Please indicate before finising which topic you would like to go through with our well-known historians. This will add an extra 1 hour to the program.
What topics are available within the interactive classes?
Almost any topic related to the history of Budapest. Please contact us with any questions at info@timemachinebudapest.hu.
What should I do if the school group exceeds 20 people?
In this case, the group can start in several rounds with 30-minute delays. A group must have at least 1 teacher and the teacher must be counted in the 20-person limit.
Is it possible for the students eat their lunch on site?
Unfortunately, eating during the exhibition is not possible, as bags are not permitted throughout the visit. But, after or before the exhibition, it is possible to eat in the lobby, without disturbing the other groups. In case of the interactive class, students are allowed to eat throughout the whole class.
